CAS has a robust curriculum aimed to develop your child mentally, physically, socially, and spiritually. In addition to the standard classes of math, science, social studies, PE, morality, and health, we also offer the following subjects:
Khmer
Every homeroom teacher at the school is a local Khmer teacher who can speak Khmer fluently. All classes, with the exception of English class, are taught primarily in Khmer.
English
All students are offered English classes through native or fluent English speakers. Kindergarten through first grade work on the alphabet and basic word sounds. Second and third graders begin to learn to read and speak more complex words and sentences. Fourth through sixth graders continue to grow their reading and speaking skills through phonics and the popular English Time curriculum. Every student is tested for their English skill level before the school year starts so that they can be placed in the right class for their abilities.
Music
All homeroom classes have a music class once per week from either the homeroom teacher or an international teacher. Students learn new songs, play games to music, learn recorders or bells, and even get to try out new instruments every once in a while!
Computers
Once students enter the fourth grade, they begin having computer classes once a week. Students work on learning computer parts, the basics of using a computer, and learn to type in English and chat with one another through the computers.
